How do I buy a stream?

Head on over to the MIFF Play program here where you can browse and purchase streams direct to your library. Once you log into your MIFF Play account, you can then access your MIFF Play library from 18 to 27 August.

I’ve forgotten my password?

Simply click Forgot your password on the Sign In page, enter the email address you used when purchasing tickets and a link to reset your password will be sent to you.

The film says it is ‘not available in your country’?

Films on MIFF Play are only available to stream in Australia. Ensure you do not have a VPN turned on as MIFF Play won’t work.

Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?

If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback.

I’m experiencing a lot of buffering. What can I do?

Buffering is a result of slow or strained internet. Unfortunately we can’t fix this for you at our end. We recommend the following to try and improve your connection. Try pausing the stream for a couple of minutes and letting it load, lower the quality from 1080p to 720p and ensure other devices on your network are not taking up significant bandwidth.

What are the system requirements?

You can watch on PCs running Windows 7+, and Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+. We recommend using Microsoft Edge for Windows devices and Safari for Apple devices. Other browsers are supported, however you may see a drop in playback quality due to security measures. You can also watch on iPhone, iPad and Android devices using the app. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection - dial up will not work. You’ll find a complete list of requirements below.

What are the requirements for Windows computers?

Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.
Internet Explorer on Windows 7 is no longer supported.
You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection - dial up will not work.

What are the requirements for Mac computers?

MacOS 10.12 or later.

What are the requirements for Linux computers?

Unfortunately, MIFF Play is not supported on Linux.

Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?

Yes, you can watch content using the app which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. Requires iOS 11 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. You can also watch content using Safari and this requires iOS 11.2 or later. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.

Can I watch content on my Android Device?

Yes, you can watch content using the app which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. You can also watch content using Chrome. This requires Android 6.0 or later. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.

What devices can I Chromecast from?

You can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on PC and Mac computers as well as Android devices. You can also Chromecast from an iPhone or iPad using the iOS app or from an Android device using the Android app.

Can I watch on my Smart TV?

We recommend that you use an HDMI cable to connect a laptop to your Smart TV and use this setup to watch your MIFF Play films. We advise avoiding using a Smart TV web browser for direct streaming. It is also possible to cast from a Chrome browser if you have a Chromecast or Apple TV device, or if your TV is Chromecast-enabled.

I can’t stream any of the content, what’s going on?

Check your minimum system requirements above. We recommend that you update to the latest version of your browser.
We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. For High Definition (HD) streaming we recommend VDSL, cable or fibre connections as we cannot guarantee consistent HD streaming on ADSL.
