The Faculties (2019)

Las Facultades
Feature Documentary 1h 17m

Argentinian public-university students from a range of fields – botany, anatomy, sociology, medieval philosophy, criminal law, morphology, theoretical physics, piano – are preparing to sit their final exams. While they’ve spent innumerable hours readying themselves for this culminating assessment, each must tap into whatever skills they have at their disposal to conquer the most gruelling task of all: the oral presentation, the most common form of evaluation in the Argentinian tertiary system.

A powerful work of intimate observation, The Faculties navigates the drama, the tension and the absurd moments leading up to each exam, as well as the unexpected relationships formed by the harried yet hopeful students.

Includes an introduction by Cristóbal Escobar.
