Welcome to MIFF Play

Please use this video to test your viewing setup ahead of the festival.

How to set up your MIFF experience at home

There are a number of ways for you to guarantee you have an excellent MIFF Play experience from the comfort your home. Please take the time to settle in and test your setup to ensure you are ready to start streaming. Below is a list of setup options. Please choose the most appropriate for you.

Smart TV

Please connect to your smart TV using an HDMI cable, Chromecast or Apple TV. We strongly advise against attempting to use the pre-installed browser on your smart TV to stream MIFF Play, as many devices are not inherently compatible with our software. Instead, please select one of the alternative ways to stream films from the list below.

HDMI

Open MIFF Play Open MIFF Play in your browser and connect your computer directly to your TV or projector using an HDMI cable. This will put the least strain on your home wi-fi to ensure you can stream at the highest possible quality*. We recommend using a Safari browser on a Mac or a Microsoft Edge browser on a PC. Chrome, Firefox and Opera are not currently supported due to temporary maintenance works.

Chromecast

Open MIFF Play in a Chrome browser and Chromecast it to your TV or projector. For further information on how to use Chromecast, visit Google support.

Apple TV

Open MIFF Play in a Safari browser and AirPlay (via Apple TV) to your TV or projector. For further information on how to use AirPlay, visit Apple support.

Computer

Open MIFF Play in your browser and start streaming. We recommend using a Safari browser on a Mac or a Chrome browser on a PC.

iPad or iPhone

Open MIFF Play in your browser and start streaming. We recommend using a Safari browser on your Apple device. We will also let you know as soon as the MIFF Play app is live and available to download from the App Store. You can stream directly on your device, or AirPlay (via Apple TV) from your device to your TV or projector.

Android tablet or phone

Open MIFF Play in your browser and start streaming. We recommend using a Chrome browser on your Android device. We will also let you know as soon at the MIFF Play app is live and available to download from Google Play. You can stream directly on your device, or Chromecast from your device to your TV or projector.

Testing your setup

To give you a chance to test your setup prior to the festival commencement, we have added the MIFF Trailer to your library as a film. Once you have selected the most appropriate setup from the list of ways to stream, we recommend playing this trailer to ensure your devices are working as they should and your bandwidth is sufficient for your chosen setup.
